With the incredible number of diet and nutrition plans available, it can be quite difficult to determine which ones are actually diets that work. Fortunately, there are quite a few ways to determine whether a diet plan is worth your time with a little research. 1. Diets That Work are Educational
Any diet plan worth your time will have a strong educational component. It won’t simply provide a list of the exact meals you should consume at every interval; some good diet plans may still do this, but the best plans are those that educate the dieter about why those foods work to promote weight loss. Diet plans that simply rattle off a list of recommended meals and ingredients are doing the dieter a disservice by failing to educate him or her. Good diet plans are eager to teach dieters about the physiological reasons why certain foods are healthy and others aren’t. They not only teach the dieter how to manage their food intake correctly but also equip the dieter to make his or her own decisions about healthy food long after that particular diet plan has been forgotten.
2. Diets That Work Don’t Make False Promises
We’ve all seen diets making claims that seem too good to be true: “you can eat whatever you want,” “you don’t have to exercise,” or “this is what the stars use to get in shape.” Such promises can make a diet seem very attractive but it’s important to think critically about these claims before you make a purchase. Everyone has heard the saying that “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is,” and that goes double for diet plans. Any such unrealistic claims should set you on alert and make you more skeptical of the diet’s true nature.
3. Diets That Work are Comprehensive
While most diet plans are inherently focused on the “diet” side of the weight loss spectrum, the best diets that work will also take exercise into account and will include it as a required part of the plan. Diet and exercise work synergistically to bring you closer to your weight loss goals; while eating healthy is certainly an important part of any weight loss program, exercise speeds up the process, and any program that doesn’t recommend exercise is likely based on some unrealistic promise about a magical superfood or weight loss pills. Any scientifically-based weight loss program must acknowledge the importance of exercise in losing weight; to do otherwise is to leave out an important part of the weight loss equation.
The world of diet plans is a confusing one, obscured even further by sales tactics and marketing methods that make it difficult to determine the validity of a diet plan. Arm yourself with a little knowledge about the fundamentals of diets that work, however, and you’ll give yourself a fighting chance in separating the scams from the proven methods.
